Durango to Host 2030 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships

Durango, Colorado, has been selected to host the 2030 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the inaugural event held in 1990. This prestigious event will take place at Purgatory Resort, the original venue, and will feature disciplines such as downhill, cross-country, short-track, and e-bike races.

Leading up to the 2030 championships, Durango will also host a major international mountain bike race in 2028 and a UCI World Cup race in 2029, both at Purgatory Resort. These events will include various disciplines, showcasing the region’s commitment to the sport.

Durango’s selection as the host city highlights its rich cycling heritage and strong community support for mountain biking. The town has produced notable cyclists, including Ned Overend and Julie Furtado, who won the men’s and women’s events respectively at the 1990 championships. The upcoming events are expected to have a positive economic impact and leave a lasting legacy for the community.
